The conventional path.

I'm Mark. I spent 30 years working in US tech and Australian startups. Lived across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Australia. Visited 70+ countries. My wife is a doctor and we co-own a medical centre in Regional Western Australia.

By every external measure, it looks like success. Good income. Professional credibility. Property. Stability. The whole package.

And yet — I'm still working as hard as I ever have, paying close to 60% of income in tax, and wondering where the freedom I worked toward actually went.

The moment it clicked.

In July 2026 I was in Koh Samui, Thailand. I ran the numbers. A 3-bedroom villa with a pool costs roughly what a deposit on a standard house costs in Western Australia. The lifestyle, the cost of living, the freedom — completely different.

I came home and started planning properly. What would it actually take to build a location-independent income? To stop trading time for money and start building assets? To move in two years?

The answer: an online business portfolio, powered by AI, built in public. The target: USD $20,000 per month.

Why I'm doing this publicly.

I've had enough of fake gurus and manufactured lifestyles. The “I made $X in 30 days” stories that skip the decade of failure before them. Aspirational content that teaches nothing real.

I'm 55. I have 30 years of hard-won experience in tech. I also have absolutely no idea how most of this works yet. Both things are true. And I think documenting both honestly — in real time — is actually more useful than any polished success story.

Every win gets shared. Every failure gets shared. Every "I have no idea what I'm doing" moment gets shared. That's the deal. That's The Long Game.
